Before I learned of Photomatix Pro I was gathering bracketed exposures to layer into a final image. I could see in my minds eye what the possibilities were and getting to that image was often quite the dog and pony show, doing it the "hard way" with layers, adjustment layers, masks and various other tips and tricks in Photoshop. What would take me hours now takes much less using the new tools and techniques I've been learning. I feel so happy see these images blossom upon my screen into what I saw and imagined out in the field.
